Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance Daisoujou boss guide

Daisoujou is the second avatar of death you will encounter after Matador in Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance‘s “Return of the True Demon” quest line. He can be found near the Tennozu Leyline in Da’at Shinagawa and will be one of the hardest challenges in the early game.

Unlike Matador who relies on Phy and Forxe damage types, Daisoujou is more of a caster. He uses Light, Dark, and Almighty attacks while inflicting enemies with Confusion/Charm/Sleep with his unique Preach skill.

You will be struggling without the right party set-up. But once you get a hang of what you need to do to win against him, Daisoujou can be much more manageable.

Here is a guide on how you can easily beat Daisoujou in Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance.

How to beat Daisoujou is Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance

Dark Dampeners

1) Stock up on Dark Dampener, Light Dampener, and Chakra Drop

Dark Dampeners, Light Dampeners, and Chakra Dorps are a must for the fight. You will be able to buy these items from Gustave so make sure to stock up on them.

After gathering Magatsuhi, Daisoujou will either hit you with a Mamudo, Mahama, or Meditation. The Dampeners will block the incoming damage, but there is no way to block Meditation.

If Meditation crits, it will siphon away a chunk of your HP and MP, healing Daisoujou for the amount of damage that he did. While HP can be recovered if you have a healer in the team, MP is the more problematic resource.

As you need Fire skills to keep the pressure on the boss, not having the MP, to cast an Agilao, is going to hurt. This is where Chakra Drops come in, and make sure to use them to keep your damage dealer topped up on MP.

2) Have demons with Me Patra as well as Amrita Soda/Showers

Daisoujou’s Preach is very annoying to deal with. It can deal three types of status effects, including Confusion, Charm, and Sleep to all foes. Hence, to make the fight easier make sure to stock up on Amrita Soda or Amrita Shower, the latter is more beneficial.

Having a demon in your active party with Me Patra will also help as they will be able to cleanse all allies with the status effect.

Shiki-Ouji SMT 5 Vengeance

3) Essence fuse Dark and Light weakness out of the Nahobino

If your Nahobino is currently weak to Dark or Light-type damage, then it’s best to fuse those weaknesses out. You do not want Daisoujou to one-shot you, so it’s best to give them an essence that resists or blocks both.

The Shiki-Ouji essence is like to come in handy for the fight. The demon resists both Light and Dark and can be recruited from the Container Yard in Da’at Shinagawa.

You will need to level the demon up and only then will it ask you to meet it at the Demon Haunts and grant you its essence.

Best Demons to beat Daisoujou in Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance

Best support:

  • Mothman
  • Kikuri-Hime
  • Bugs
  • Tao (Canon of Vengeance)

Mothman has Me Patra as soon as it hits level 30. It’s going to be one of the best counters to Daisoujou’s Preach. Kukuri-Hime and Bugs are also going to be great support picks for the fight. Kikuri-Hime even comes with a resist to Light attacks.

If you are playing on Canon of Vengeance, then you can use Tao for the fight. However, she is weak to Dark, so she comes with a bit of risk.

Best Healers

  • Anahita
  • Kelpie
  • Tao (Canon of Vengeance)

Anahita is a special fusion that you can unlock after completing a side quest that is related to her. She along with Kelpie come with Diarama which will restore a chunk of a Party Member’s missing HP.

You can use Tao for the healing role as well for the Vengeance route, however, do keep in mind that she is weak to Dark.

Nezha Taizi SMT 5 Vengeance

Best Damage

  • Hua Po
  • Nezha Taizi
  • Nahobino

Huao Po and Nezha Taizi both come with Agilao which is extremely potent against Daisoujou. If you are making the Nahobino into a mage, then having Agilao on them along with some points in Fire Mastery will make the fight significantly easier.

Once you defeat Daisoujou you will be able to able to move on to the next “Return of the True Demon” boss in Atlus‘ RPG.
