Chapter 3 in Black Myth: Wukong is the only chapter of the game that does not feature any secret area, but it does have a side-quest of its own.
However, this mission is fairly cryptic and does not tell you what you need to do very clearly. So, if you’re stuck in the Pagoda realm, or you’re on a completionist run, here’s everything you need to know.
How to complete the Pagoda realm Wards and Prisoner mission in Black Myth: Wukong Chapter 3
There are two parts to this mission, the first involves you talking to a prisoner in the Pagoda realm, while the other involves hunting and defeating a four captains in the realm.
Where to find the prisoner in the Pagoda realm
When you first spawn into the area, you’ll see that there are multiple cliffside paths, and each of these paths are dotted with prison cells, most of which are empty.
Close to the spawn point, you’ll come across a prison cell that has a prisoner in it. When you interact with this individual, he’ll tell you to give up your conquest and go back.
However, this should be your cue to progress towards the Upper Pagoda area where a new boss fight awaits you.
Captain Lotus-Vision
Located past the Upper Pagoda shrine, he’s the first boss that you will come across in this realm. Make your way to the shrine, and then drop down using the ledges to your left and you’ll come to this boss.
Throughout the fight, he’ll shoot lasers at you and will raise corpses to fight for him too. His attack frequency will increase once you’ve drained him down to 50% of his health, so make sure you have enough drinks and soaks to help you survive.
- Rewards: Spirit of Captain Lotus-Vision, and Frostsprout Twig curio.
Captain Wise-Voice
The second captain can be found past the Mani Wheel shrine on top of the prison area. Just like the previous boss, he also shoots lasers which not only damage you but also induce madness which will in turn, reduce your overall HP.
- Rewards: Spirit of Captain Wise-Voice.
Captain Void-Illusion
While this is a captain, you won’t have to do this boss fight because the enemy is already dead. Keep progressing through the area till you come to the Longevity Road shrine. To the right of this shrine, you’ll see the corpse of a giant enemy. Interact with it to collect the spirit.
- Reward: Spirit of Captain Void-Illusion
Captain Kalpa-Wave
Captain Kalpa-Wave is the final captain that you’ll have to defeat. You’ll find this enemy waiting for you at the New Thunderclap Temple. Although the boss looks very clumsy, he’s a formidable foe with a lot of AoE attacks.
He also has the ability to launch blood waves at you, and if they strike you, they’ll deal a massive amount of damage to your HP.
- Reward: Spirit of Captain Kalpa-Wave.
Pagoda realm Wards and Prisoner mission rewards
- Chu-Bai Spear
- Corrupted Captains achievement
After you’ve collected all the spirits, make your way back to the Lower Pagoda waypoint, and go talk to the Prisoner that you first interacted with, who’ll give you the rewards mentioned above.
You’ll notice that the wards are now missing and the cells are open, so be sure to check them out. Some of them have chests that contain spirit forms within them, so make sure to not miss out on it.
