After months of leaks and rumors, Nintendo finally released a reveal trailer for a successor to the Nintendo Switch, dubbed simply the ‘Nintendo Switch 2’. The newer console seems to be a direct upgrade to the 2017 version, boasting a larger display, more ports, better hardware and even partial backwards compatibility.
While the console is slated for a tentative 2025 release, Nintendo is yet to announce an official, final release date for the same. However, multiple leaks have pointed to a April 2025 launch, with additional information on its expected price – which can be found detailed below.
How much will the Nintendo Switch 2 cost?

As per a screenshot shared on the official r/NintendoSwitch2 subreddit, a Discord user has claimed that the console is expected to cost around $410 or €399. The user also claimed to be an employee of the French retail store, Micromania – which provides a bit of authenticity to these claims.
Additionally, the console is expected to launch with around 25 games ranging between $69 to $79.
Assuming the information shared is indeed correct, the Switch 2 should cost $100 more than the original Nintendo Switch, which does seem like a fair price.
Everything you need to know before pre-ordering the Nintendo Switch 2
As of the time of writing this article, pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 are yet to go live. Nintendo has also not commented on the exact launch date for the console, only mentioning a 2025 launch.
Interestingly, there is a Nintendo Direct set for April 2, 2025 which might shed some light on the ultimate reveal of the console, along with pre-order details.
Given the hype surrounding the console, expect units to sell out very quickly. Scalpers may also have a field day, so it might be best to wait and see until stocks stabilize.
