While the ASUS ROG Ally is more than capable of running Black Myth Wukong at a solid 60 frames per second, there do exist a set of optimized settings that offer a fair balance between performance and battery life.
The Ally’s battery life has always been a major point of concern, given that it barely lasts 2 hours on a single charge (when running AAA games at 15 W or higher). As such, limiting frame rates and graphical quality is the way to go for this particular handheld gaming PC, while unplugged.

ROG Ally specific settings
- Operating Mode: Manual (18 W)
- Control Mode: Gamepad
- AMD RSR: Off
- CPU Boost: Disabled
- Resolution: Keep this unchanged
- AMD RIS: On
- FPS Limiter: Disabled to take advantage of VRR

- Recommended VRAM: 4-5 GB
- Expected battery life: 2 hours for the original ROG Ally, 4-5 hours for the ROG Ally X
While it is entirely possible to play the game at the 25/30 W Turbo preset, it is generally not recommended to do so – unless you have the handheld plugged into a wall outlet, given that the battery life can be quite underwhelming for the (original) Ally.
The ROG Ally X should be able to run the game at the same settings though, with improved battery life and an 8 GB VRAM preset (enabling it to allocate more memory to high-res textures).
