What is Mortal Wound and how to cure it in Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2

Mortal Wound is one of the most dangerous status effects that your character can be inflicted with in Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2. They can be pretty difficult to deal with in harder difficult settings and can force you to play with a debuff if you are not able to cure it.

So you should ideally want to deal with Mortal Wound as soon as you receive it when booting up any of the game modes. Here is a guide on everything you need to know about the Mortal Wound status effect and how to cure it in Space Marine 2.

Space Marine 2 Mortal Wound status effect explained

Mortal Wound Space Marine 2

You will receive a Mortal Wound when your character gets incapacitated in Space Marine 2. This happens when you lose all of your HP and need to be revived by a teammate.

Once you revive you will receive the Mortal Wound status effect. If you are playing the mission on Minimal and Average difficulty then you will receive the wound after 2 incapacitation. If you are playing them on Substantial and Ruthless, then you will receive the status effect after 1 incapacitation.

You can check if you have the Mortal Wound status effect on you by checking for the skull symbol located in the top left corner of your screen. It will be next to your health bar.

If you have a Mortal Wound and get incapacitated once again, then you will instantly be killed. Once your character has died, you will respawn after some time, however, you will now have half health and will have lost all of your items apart from all the Armory Data that you have accumulated.

How to cure Mortal Wound in Space Marine 2

There are two ways by which you will be able to cure the Mortal Wound status effect in Space Marine 2:

1) Use Guardian Relics

The most straightforward way of dealing with it will be to use Guardian Relics. It’s a key support item that you will be able to get your hands on by completing Operation missions and quests in the story mode.

Once you are incapacitated you will be able to self-revive and cure the Mortal Wound status that you have been inflicted with.

2) Go through with your death

The second way of dealing with it is to just let yourself get eliminated. If you are not holding a Guardian Relic or have already used one (you can only hold one at any given time) you will have no other option but to die in order to remove it.

However, once you respawn at a checkpoint or out in the field you will have reduced health and have lost all of your loot apart from Armory Data which you need to upgrade your weapons.
