Carnifex is one of the most famous Warhammer 40K enemy types, and it makes its well-deserved appearance in Space Marine 2 as a boss character.

Carnifex appears initially in the prologue chapter of Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2, where you fight him to a certain degree. Unfortunately, Carnifex gets taken out by the Inquisition in a cutscene, and you go your merry way.
The second encounter with this enemy as a boss happens when you reach Avarax. While traversing through a hallway following the campaign, the Carnifex appears. From here, it all boils down to you fighting the boss and taking it out in the most Space Marine 2 way possible.

Carnifex is one of the overwhelming boss fights in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2, and the boss does everything in his body to ensure you feel frustrated.
It doesn’t come with parry windows so, you either have to try doing perfect parry against its normal attacks, which is scary, or dodge and wait for your chance.
Furthermore, this boss has a habit of frequently jumping towards the players and rushing at them. You must keep an eye out while laser-focused on finding an opening to shoot the enemy.
Some critical attacks of Carnifex you need to remember while fighting it in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 are as follows:
- The leap, where this boss forward lunges at the player. This is one of the few attacks Carnifex will regularly do.
- Immediately following the leap, Carnifex sometimes digs its claws into the ground and pulls them out. This is an area-of-effect attack, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
- This boss will sometimes do a back swipe, where it fixes its nails at an angle and turns around. If you are behind this boss and dealing damage, remember this attack.
- Sometimes, Carnifex will perform a front slam immediately doing a back swipe. Watch if the boss is turning to face you.
- Carnifex also has a ranged attack, where it fixes itself to the ground and shoots venom in lines.
Tips to defeat Carnifex in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2

- Dodging is your best friend: Dodging is the biggest help you can get when fighting against this boss. Not only will that help you not take most of its damage, but you can also gain some ground and take it out from a distance.
- Shoot from a distance: Since Carnifex barely has any openings for you to fight in melee, the best idea is to keep your distance and use your guns whenever given the opportunity. That will slowly chip out its health.
- Leverage its ranged attack: When Carnifex performs its ranged attack, it opens itself up to melee damage. If you can dodge its venom, you have a complete opening to rush in and deal melee damage to the boss. Hence, take this chance.
- Parry if you can: While this boss doesn’t have blue parries, it doesn’t mean you cannot parry it all. To do that, you have to perfectly parry the regular attacks of Carnifex, opening it up to get shot in the face. But remember, don’t try parrying its red attacks.
