How to unlock Nuwa’s special fusion in Shin Megami Tensei 5 Canon of Vengeance

As you make your way through the narrative in Shin Megami Tensei 5’s Canon of Vengeance storyline, you will get a chance to unlock Nuwa’s special fusion. However, the process is not that straightforward, as there are no waypoint indicators or a quest pop-up.

You will have to go through a series of dialogs after a certain point in the narrative, and only then will you be able to unlock both of Nuwa’s forms as a special fusion.

The process is closely tied to Yakumo, and the fusion unlocks much later in Canon of Vengeance. You will atleast have to reach Asakusa Main Street in Da’at: Taito.

Here is everything you will need to do to unlock Nuwa’s special fusion in Shin Megami Tensei 5’s Canon of Vengeance.

Complete “Investigate Jozoji Temple” in Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance

The first step to unlocking Nuwa’s fusion is to complete the “Investigate Jozoji Temple” main mission in Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance. This part of the plot happens around the mid-point where you will need to head to the temple to stop the spread of damage that the Qadištu are inflicting by gathering Magatsuhi.

However, Yakumo and Nuwa will stop you from destroying the Magatsuhi Harvest. They want to trap the Qadištu when they return to collect it and you will have to beat them to continue on with the narrative.

Yakumo and Nuwa are a difficult encounter in the Canon of Vengeance. But once you are able to take them out you will finally unlock the next region in Da’at Shinjuku and unlock the final Qadištu encounter with Lilith.

Talk to Yakumo in Asakusa Main Street in Da’at: Taito

Once you complete Shakan and reach Da’at Taito one of your quest navigators will lead you to Asakusa Main Street. Yakumo will be standing there in front of the entrance to the main area.

There will be a small cutscene and Yakumo will explain that Nuwa has died trying to save him from Tiamat’s onslaught. Along with her death, he has also given up on pursuing the throne and will be spending his time protecting the citizens of Tokyo.

After this Yakumo will leave, however, there is no indicator or a quest pop-up as to what you should be doing next to get Nuwa’s fusion.

Unlocking Nuwa’s special fusion in Shin Megami Tensei 5 Canon of Vengeance

1) Head to Tokyo Medical Research Lab

Once Yakumo leaves, use the Leyline Font to teleport to the Medical Research Lab in Tokyo. You will need to talk to all the researchers there and one will tell you about Yakumo’s past and how he came to meet Nuwa.

After a small dialog exchange with the researcher and Tsukuyomi, you will then need to head out to find Yakumo.

2) Make your way to Jouin High School

From the lab make your way to the Tokyo overworld and head to Jouin High School. You will now see Yakumo standing over a student. Talk to him and he will tell you that the student was attacked by a demon and he saved her.

3) Meet Yakumo at Jozoji Temple

After interacting with him in high school, head towards Jozoji Temple which is located to the north. Here you will find Yakumo praying for all the lost souls and after a brief dialog exchange between him and Tsukuyomi, you will finally unlock both of Nuwa’s special fusions in Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance.

Nuwa’s base form has a level requirement of 80 while her snake form will need you to be at least level 89 in Atlus‘ RPG. They are also very expensive special fusions especially if you are drawing all of her fusion requirements from the Compendium.
