5 major updates to expect from Rainbow Six Siege Y9S3 Operation Twin Shells
Here are some of the major updates coming to Rainbow Six Siege with Y9S3 Operation Twin Shells:
1) New Operator Scopos and new weapon PCX-33 AR
The biggest highlight of the Y9S3 update will be the introduction of the new Operator, Kure “Skopos” Galanos. She is a defender who can fight by using two drones called shells. However, she can only use one shell at a time and can easily be countered by multiple operators.
The new PCX-33 assault rifle will be exclusive to her for now, and it will be interesting to see how her unique playstyle fits in the meta.
2) New Drone Boost feature
With Operation Twin Shells, Drones will be getting a new feature called the Drone Boost, which will let you speed up the movement speed of your gadget for around three seconds and have limited activation charges. The feature will have a 6-second cooldown and you will be able to cancel it midway through using it.
3) Massive updates to Nøkk, Solis, and Dokkaebi
After persistent complaints from the community, Nøkk is finally getting a much-deserved buff. Her ability is now action-based instead of using a timer, thus rewarding patient playstyles.
Solis, on the other hand, is receiving a new set of nerfs. Players who main her will now be able to see electronic devices, but can’t have real-time intel on the gadget type. However, she will be able to detect the gadget type after using her new Overclock ability, which in turn will alert attackers.
Dokkaebi is also receiving an ability change in Y9S3. She will not have any hack charges at the beginning of the round but will receive them over 45-second intervals. Furthermore, her charges will now be limited to two per round only.
4) Versus AI 2.0: Attackers
The Versus AI training playlist was introduced only to let players play as Attackers against AI Defenders. With the 2.0 update, players will now be able to defend against AI Attackers to learn about the other side of the grass.
The AI will be using only 5 select Operators for now, however, with more upcoming seasons, the developers will introduce more Operators to the Attacker AI roster in Rainbow Six Siege.
In 2.0 Attackers the AI will have access to the following list of Operators in Y9S3:
- Ash
- Thatcher
- Thermite
- Nomad
- Sledge
You as defenders will have access to 16 Operators in the playlist, details of which are yet to be disclosed by Ubisoft.
5) Siege Cup beta
A new time-gated event called the Siege Cup will also be going live in Operation Twin Shells. It will take place every two weeks, and offer a very competitive experience by letting players participate in teams of five.
Winning teams will then be placed into a bracket system where they will go up against the best rosters in their region.
However, do keep in mind that the Siege Cup will be released in its beta state on September 10, 2024. So players who play in the EU and NA servers will be able to participate in them.
