When you are just starting out in Monster Hunter Wilds, you will be able to locate the Training Area on the northern side of the Base Camp. All you will need to do is to go to the location as seen in the image above and then press the required button when prompted to enter.

Accessing the Training Area in Monster Hunter Wilds

While you will be able to find the Training Area as soon as you reach the Base Camp in Monster Hunter Wilds, you will unfortunately not be able to access it. To unlock this point of interest you will first need to beat Doshaguma Alpha.

When you are starting Wilds the first hunt that you will need to complete is that of a Chatacabra. This is the introductory mission that you are thrust into right after Alma asks you to pick a weapon and try it out on a training barrel that is nearby.

Once you take out the Chatacabra you will unlock the base camp in Windward Plains and pick up the Doshaguma Alpha hunt from Alma. Once you beat the Alpha you will be able to access the training area and all the features that it offers.

The Training Area is the best place for you to pick up new weapons or try new builds in Monster Hunter Wilds. You will be able to practice the different weapon combos on the High Purrformance Barrel Puncher, to see which attack strings will yield you the highest DPS.

You will be able to access the makeshift camp from the training area itself. It’s very similar to the pop-up camp and you will be able to use it to change your weapons, armor, and item loadouts.

The High Purrformance Barrel Puncher is similar to the Training Barrel that you find at the start of your journey. Although it serves the same purpose, the Training Area comes with more settings and options.

When you are in the training area you will be able to talk to Luke who is the training area meownager. He will be able to change the settings on the High Purrformance Barrel Puncher. Here are some of the settings that the puncher comes with:

Hide SettingsYou can swap this between a hard and soft setting and choose the hitzone values of the target.
Wound SettingsThis setting lets you customize whether you can wound the Puncher or not. You can set it to “On” to always inflict a wound or to “Off” to disable wound formation.
Select ModeHere you will be able to set the High Purrformance Barrel Puncher to perform melee attack, a ranged attack, or a mix of both attacks from time to time.
You can put this setting on “Standby” if you do not want the Puncher to attack.
Smash PatternThe Smash Pattern will show how your character model will reach when hit by a certain attack. You will be able to block the Puncher’s attacks unless you have kept the damage setting to Strong.
OrientationYou can change the direction the High Purrformance Barrel Puncher will face.
Natural Recovery SettingsDetermines if you automatically start to regain lost HP. lost HP.
