The Artian weapon system is a core part of the High Rank endgame loop in Monster Hunter Wilds. Apart from Decorations, these weapons will help you make the most of your build as you look to minmax your character as much as possible.
However, compared to the Decorations mechanic, the Artian system is a bit tricky to grasp and there are many in the community who are struggling to wrap their heads around it. So if you are looking to learn about everything there is about Artian weapons in the RPG, then the guide below will help you out.
What are Artian Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds?
As mentioned, the Artian weapons are the endgame system in Monster Hunter Wilds and you unlock it right after you take down your first tempered monster in High Rank. So you will be getting your hands on them as soon as HR 20.
However, crafting the higher-ranking Artian weapons will take a while, and you will need to complete the HR story and unlock multi-tempered hunts across all regions to have the best rarity Artian materials.
Why pick Artian weapons over traditionally crafter Monster weapons?

While the weapons that you craft using monster parts are great early on, they fall off hard in terms of the potential that the Artian Weapons bring to the table. Apart from a few rare weapons, the Artian weapons out damage each monster weapon in Wilds. They are currently the meta for almost every late-game build in the game which is why you will want to heavily invest in this system to be able to properly min-max your character.
Not only do Artian Weapons have higher stats, but you can also modify and manipulate them via the Reinforcing mechanic making them even more potent with the right Decorations and armor skills. However, there is a fair bit of RnG involved in the process and you might not end up getting what you are actually looking for.
On a more positive side, the highest Rarity Artian weapons come with three level 3 Weapon Decorations slots. This will let you insert some of the best Decos in the game including the the ones that have multiple skills attached to them.
How to forge Artian Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds

To start Forging Artian Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds, you will first need to unlock the mechanic by beating your first Tempered Monster. After that, you will need to head over to Gemma who will now have the “Forge Artian Weapons” option available along with the “Reinforce/Dismantle Artian Weapons” option.
Now to craft any Artian weapon you will need three specific parts based on the weapon type that you are trying to make. Below is a list of the weapon types and the Artian part combinations that you will need in order to make them:
Weapon Type | Recipe |
---|---|
Great Sword | Blade + Blade + Tube |
Long Sword | Blade + Tube + Tube |
Switch Axe | Blade + Blade + Device |
Charge Blade | Blade + Disc + Device |
Insect Glaive | Blade + Tube + Device |
Dual Blades | Blade + Blade + Disc |
Sword And Shield | Blade + Tube + Disc |
Lance | Blade + Disc + Disc |
Gunlance | Disc + Disc + Device |
Hunting Horn | Disc + Device + Device |
Hammer | Disc + Disc + Tube |
Light Bowgun | Tube + Device + Device |
Heavy Bowgun | Disc + Tube + Device |
Bow | Tube + Tube + Device |
Now if you notice in the image above, each part comes with an Artian Bonus. Parts that have Attack Infusion will increase the overall Raw of the Weapon while the parts that have Affinity Infusion will increase the overall Affinity or crit chance of the weapon. The same goes for the Elements and Status effects as well, where one increases the overall elemental output, the other increases the potency of the status effects that the weapon inflicts.
So the more parts that you have with the same Artian Bonus the greater will that effect’s potency be. However, do keep in mind that while you can mix and match Attack and Affinity, for elements you will need to have all three parts having the same bonus to make the most of them.
If the three parts have three different elements then your resulting weapon will not be carrying any Elemental damage. The same goes for status effects as well, if you have one part for Poison, one for Paralysis, and another for Blast, the resulting weapon will not be carrying a status effect.
Should you go for Attack or Affinity bonus on your Artian weapons?
For Artian weapons, it’s advisable to go for one Affinity Bonus and two Attack Bonuses. You can also go for three Attack Bonuses because it’s much easier to get crit chance from Decos and Armor Passives than it is to get Raw. Hence, skills like Critical Eye, Weakness Exploit, Coalescence, Agitator, Antivirus, and more will let you get that additional Affinity on weak monster parts.
While more Raw can be obtained from certain skills like Peak Performance, Resentment, Attack Boost, and more, most of them are conditional and won’t let you have a decent DPS uptime.
You do not need to have a 100% crit rate on any build. By trying to get more Affinity you run the risk of having a very low EFR or Effective Raw which will do considerably less damage to the monster.
Best sources of the highest rarity Artian parts in Monster Hunter Wilds

The best way to farm the highest rarity (Rarity 7) Artian parts in Monster Hunter Wilds is to take on the toughest-tempered monsters in the game. The higher the hunt difficulty the rarer will be the parts that you get from the quest.
Here are the Tempered monsters that you will need to take on for the best Artian Parts:
- Tempered Arkveld
- Tempered Gore Magala
- Tempered Rey Dau
- Tempered Uth Duna
- Tempered Jin Dahaad
- Tempered Nu Udra
You can further maximize the amount of Decos and Artian Parts that you get from the quest by taking on multi-hunt Investigations. As long as you have saved an expedition as an Investigation you will be able to complete that a total of three times.
So look for multi-hunt quests where you have at least one of the Tempered Monsters that are listed above along with another monster who too is preferably tempered.
How to Reinforce Artian weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds

Once you have made an Artian Weapon you will be able to further upgrade it by using the Reinforce mechanic. You will be able to reinforce an Artian weapon a total of 5 times. Every time you upgrade it, however, the additional stats that you get on the weapon will be based on RnG, so you might not be getting exactly what you are looking for from the get-go.
You will be using resources like Drearisite, Specklite, Argecite, and Oricalcite to Reinforce your Artian weapons.
Best ways to get Artian weapon Reinforce materials

Interacting with the various mining outcrops in the different regions of the game to get a chance of obtaining a Reinforcement material is not a fun idea. Fortunately, there are two additional and better ways of obtaining them in Wilds:
1) Getting Festival Shares from Nata
As time passes the Fire Spring festival happens in the Oilwell Basin and you will get a nice chunk of the “Fesitva Shares” in the form of Oricalcite and Argecite. You can get your hands on these shares by talking to Nata at any base camp and then selecting the option once it’s highlighted. You will only be able to get the shares once some time passes and the Fire Spring has occurred.
2) Exchange monster parts at the Smelting Foundry
As you progress through the story and other side quests, you will eventually unlock Roqul, the Smelting Foundry NPC. He will have the Smelt Ore option which will let you convert the monster parts that you do not need for Drearisite, Specklite, Argecite, and Oricalcite.
Oricalcite needs the most amount of points to make, so for it, you will need to invest the highest rarity monster parts of the toughest monsters.
if you are already farming for the Rarity 7 Artian parts you will automatically have your inventory filled with the highest-grade monster parts.
Will Dismantling Artian weapons return all Reinforcement materials that you have invested?
Yes! If you are not happy with how a weapon has turned out after you have reinforced it several times, you will get back all the resources that you have invested after dismantling it. However, you will not get a refund on the Artian parts that you initially used to make the weapon.
So as long as you have the parts to keep making new weapons you can keep rerolling the RnG on the Reinforce mechanic.
