Adjusting your movement speed can be quite crucial to path of Exile 2’s combat and traversal, given how slow the stock character movement can appear to be. This is especially apparent when traversing through the large, randomly generated game map.
That being said, there are 3 major ways to boost movement speed in Path of Exile 2, which can be found discussed below.
How to boost movement speed in Path of Exile 2
Using Speed Modifiers
Using Speed Modifiers on gear is a great way to boost your overall movement speed. While this particular modifier can be rolled on to any gear, it is far more common to have them equipped on Boots.
Look for the Movement Speed affix, and also consider using Orbs (Transmutation, Augmentation) to affix in additional modifiers. Boots have a higher chance of obtaining Movement Speed, so it might be in your best interests to focus on augmenting this subset of gear.
Using Passive Skills

Respeccing Passives is something you should get used to rather early on in Path of Exile 2. In short, you can recover spent Passive Skills and reapply them in the order of your liking.
There exist multiple Passives that confer movement speed bonuses in PoE 2, with Blur (Ranger, Level 5 unlock) and Cross-Strike (Mercenary, core passive) being some of the few examples.
However, these Passives skills only boost your overall movement speed in the in-game map – and not during combat. Choose your skills carefully and try to balance them out evenly.
Equipping Skill and Support gems
You can also passively boost your movement speed using certain Support and Skill gems, in an indirect fashion. These skills are usually added in conjunction with the use of another ability.
For example, the Mobility support gem greatly reduces the decay of movement speed when you use its associated skills. Similarly, Flicker Strike can be used while in combat to immediately teleport to an enemy’s location – thereby reducing travel time.
Make sure to browse through your gem collection and pick accordingly.
