Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 is well underway with a bunch of story quests for you to complete and level up the Battle Pass. The Wanted: Skillet and Wanted: Joss questlines revolve around looting The Baron, but these quests’ complex nature has been troubling many.
Even Epic Games has acknowledged issues occurring with the “Help Valentina rob Fletcher Kane’s personal safe” and “Help Valentina rob the Baron’s personal safe” quests in the game.
To help you out, though, we’ve listed all the workarounds that can help you move past “The Baron is reportedly hoarding gold in his office…” stage of the quest.
How to avoid “The Baron is reportedly hoarding gold in his office…” quest getting bugged in Fortnite
According to Fortnite Status’ official post on X, it seems like you have to be the first player in the lobby to talk to Valentina in the Outlaw Oasis POI. The exact location of the NPC has been marked in the image below.
You’ll first have to signal Valentina about the safe following which she’ll start to open it. In the meantime, your task is to take out six of Fletcher Kane’s bodyguards who are just bots so they’re fairly easy to take out. Just make sure you don’t end up being third-partied by someone else.
Do note that even if other players in the lobby take out the guards, you’ll be able to progress in the quest. However, the more important thing, again, is to be the first one to talk to Valentina.
Once you’ve taken out the six guards, simply return to Valentina who’ll be standing in front of the safe. Interact with her to finally open the valuable safe and collect all the gold. This will not only complete the quest but also level you up by 1 instantly.
Some players have also reported that they can’t complete this quest in standard matches but it worked well enough in Ranked Matches. While there is no way to confirm this as the ideal workaround, there’s no harm in trying.
Another trick reported by players is not to initiate the Wanted: Skillet questline before the Wanted: Joss questline as the Baron quest is a part of the latter. So, if you haven’t started the Wanted: Skillet questline that has you collecting bars, make sure to avoid it and loot The Baron first.
