Thiollier and St. Trina’s questlines are inextricably linked in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. You will start it by talking to Thiollier and as you progress through it completing the various steps, the quest will eventually link into St. Trina’s mission.
It’s one of the longest questlines in the RPG and it’s completely missable if you are not doing a couple of things in the proper sequence.
So here is a guide on how you can complete Thiollier and St. Trina’s questline in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
How to find Thiollier and start his quest in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
You will meet Thiollier near the Pillar Path Cross in the Gravesite Ruins. It’s the very first region of the Land of Shadow and you can get there by crossing the Ensis Greatbridge.
Then from the Cstle Front Site of Grace, you take a right then head southeast, and then take a left. You will the path forking while moving past the first enemy encampment.
Here you will spot Miquella’s Cross and Thiollier standing next to it. Interact with him and exhaust all of his dialog options.
The next step will be to speak to Moore who can be located outside the Belurat, Tower Settlement legacy dungeon. It’s located to the west of the Three-Path Cross Site Of Grace.
Now interact with the NPC and select the option “Talk to Moore”. After a brief exchange of words, he will give you a Black Syrup for Thiollier. Take it to activate Thiollier and St. Trina’s questline.
How to complete Thiollier questline in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
To complete Thiollier’s quest here are a few things that you will need to do:
1) Obtain Thiollier’s Concoction
After receiving the Black Syrum from Moore, head back to Thiollier and give him the item. Exhaust all of his dialogue options and then he will tell you that if you ever feel weary of life he can get you something special.
Choose the option “I’m weary of life”, and he will give you Thiollier’s Concoction. Additionally, you will also be able to buy it from him for 30,000 Runes.
2) Break Miquella’s Charm
As you progress through the game you will automatically be able to break Miquella’s Charm. Especially if you go to Rauh base, approach Shadow Keep, or just move beyond Bonny Village in Scadu Altus.
As you make your way to these areas you will hear a shattering sound and then receive the following notification:
“Somewhere, a great rune has broken… And so too has a powerful charm.”
Once this occurs, go back and speak to Thiollier and he will tell you that he is being haunted by th memories of St. Trina, and Miquella’s charm works on him no longer.
3) Talk to Leda
This might be an option part of the quest, but we suggest that you go ahead and do it as there is a lot of lore exposition that takes place.
After speaking to Thiollier head to the Highroad Cross Site of Grace and search for Leda. She is pretty easy to find and once you find her, she will tell you about her goal in exterminating all she finds unworthy for Miquella.
You can choose the option “Suggest Thiollier”, here, and Leda will tell you that she considers him an ally because of the love that he bares for St. Trina.
So she won’t make any moves on him and you can continue on with the questline.
However, do note that if you are siding with Sir Ansbach in his questline, you will end up defeating Leda in an invasion. So make sure you do not look to complete his questline before you reach this section of Thiollier’s questline in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
4) Send Thiollier to the Garden of Deep Purple
Once Miquella’s Charm is broken speak to Thiollier and then rest at a Grace. You will finally find him at the Pillar Path Cross. Talk to him, and he will tell you about his intentions of heading south and searching for deep-purple water lilies.
You will find him next beside St. Trina in the Garden of Deep Purple. If by chance you have discovered St. Trina before interacting with Thiollier, you can just meet him at Pillar Path Cross and tell him about where you found her.
Rest at a Grace again to reset the world, and Thiollier will have disappeared to the Garden of Deep Purple.
5) Reach the Garden of Deep Purple
To unlock the Garden of Deep Purple you will first need to reach the following areas:
Once you have reached the Fissure you will need to go through it. The path takes a while to traverse, but the route is pretty linear and you will just need to keep heading in while fighting off all the enemies.
As you reach the depths, you will unlock the Fissure Depths Site of Grace. From there you will need to head to the giant stone statue’s head which is right in front. Jump off it, and you will fall down to the Garden of Deep Purple triggering a boss fight with the Putrescent Knight.
You can summon Thiollier for the encounter to make things easier. However, the boss is not particularly hard. His attacks might hit hard, but have a big wind-up time. You will have enough time to punish the moves.
Note: If you approach the Fissure before breaking Miquella’s charm then there will be a seal that will prevent you from progressing further into the area. However, you can reach the Fissure itself and unlock the Site of Grace there.
6) Talk to Thiollier in Garden of Deep Purple
Once you beat the Putrescent Knight, you will unlock the Garden of Deep Purple. From the site of grace head towards the cave ahead where you will find St. Tina and Thiollier slumped beside her beside a pool of purple nectar.
Talk to the NPC and he will tell you that he is drifting off in the purple poison and then will warn you about taking it yourself.
Reload the area, and talk to Thiollier again. This time you will find him pining for more of St. Trina’s poison and he will ask you to leave.
7) Take in St. Trina’s poison four times
For the next part of St. Trina and Thiollier’s questline in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, you will need to take in the purple nectar yourself. Interact with her and select the “Imbibe Nectar” option.
Every time you do it, you will die, but keep at it and imbibe it four times. After you die for the fourth time, St. Trina will then directly speak to you and say the following:
“Make Miquella stop… Don’t turn the poor thing into a god…”
After you respawn speak with Thiollier and tell him about what St. Trina told you. He will think that you are lying and will get angry.
He will warn you, but continue to pass on her words, and he will mention that he can never forgive you.
8) Take down Thiollier
Thiollier will attack you after you reset the area and try to head towards St’ Trina’s cave. The way will be blocked off by a fog wall and Thiollier will invade. Beating him is easy, and after you take him down head into the cave once more.
You will get to speak to Thiollier and he will talk about his own weakness, but this time ask you to tell him exactly what St. Trina said. There will be no dialog options for you at this point till you Imbibe her nectar two more times.
Upon doing so you will get the following sentences from her:
- “Godhood would be Miquella’s prison. A caged divinity… is beyond saving.”
- “You must kill Miquella… Grant him forgiveness.”
Pass on these words to Thiollier, he will once again consider them to be lies. However, he will question himself this time as you look to exhaust his dialog.
9) Use Thiollier in the Enir-Ilim fight
As you reach Enir-Ilim to face off against Leda and er allies, you will be able to summon NPCs whose questlines you have completed in Shadow of the Erdtree thus far. This will include Thiollier, Hornsent, as well as Ansbach if you have sided with them during their respective missions.
Once the fight is over, you will have successfully completed Thiollier’s questline in Elden Ring.
Completing St. Trina’s questline in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
After you round out Thiollier’s missions you will be able to complete St. Trina’s questline as well. Go back to her after you have defeated the final boss of the DLC in Enir-Ilim.
You will now see that St’ Trina has fallen to the ground in the Garden of Deep Purple. She is presumed to be dead along with Miquella.
You will find St. Trina’s Blossom lying just infront of her body, and you can pick it up. While it acts as a hairpin with a flower design on it, the time is actually a helmet piece.
Note: Make sure you are completing Thiollier’s questline before reaching Enir-Ilim. Once you have made your way past the Cleansing Chamber Anteroom Site Of Grace and into Enir-Ilim, Thiollier will disappear from the map. So make sure you complete his questline so that you can summon him for th fight against Leda in FromSoftware’s latest DLC.
