Monster Hunter Wilds complete Slinger Ammo List

here is every type of slinger ammo that you will be able to pick up in Monster Hunter Worlds along with their effects:
1) Permanent Slinger Pods
Permanent Slinger Pods are the ones that you will be able to craft and have in your inventory at any time. These are available to you at all times as long as you have the crafting materials for it, and these primarily consist of ammo that can CC the monster and inflict them with a status effect.
Slinger Ammo | Effect |
---|---|
Flash Pod | When used you trigger a flash which will blind the monster for some time. |
Screamer Pod | The pod creates a high-pitched sound that briefly stuns monsters. It is particularly useful against a Balahara that is trying to tunnel its way into the sand. (You can also acquire Screamer Pods from the Buanos in Windward Plains) |
Dung Pod | Hitting a monster with it will force them to flee the area. Comes in handy when separating a group of Doshaguma or Yian Kut-Ku. |
Large Dung Pod | Affects all monsters in the larger AoE and forces them to flee the area. |
Luring Pod | You attract a monster’s aggression when you hit them with a luring pod. They will then follow you for a brief period. |
Tranq Blade | Has the same effects as that of a Tranq Bomb, and puts monsters to sleep allowing you to capture them. Unlike Tranq Bombs you will be able to use these knives from a distance. |
Throwing Knife | You have an infinite supply of throwing knives in your inventory. When used you deal a small amount of damage to the monster. |
Paint Pod | You can highlight parts of an environment and other monsters with these pods. This makes the ones hit by the ammo easier to find on the map. |
2) Environmental Slinger Pods
These are Slinger Ammo that you acquire from the environment. Just exploring parts of an area will let you acquire this by directly going and interacting with them or using your Slinger to grab them from a distance.
These pods cannot be kept in your inventory so you will not have access to them at all times. Moreover, certain pods are exclusive to certain regions in the game (like the Frost Pod) so try and keep a mental note of these nuances.
Slinger Ammo | Effect |
---|---|
Torch Pod | When fired you deal Fire Damage to the monster. It can even drop to the ground creating a small fire that continuously does damage to the monster that stands over it. |
Puddle Pod | You deal water damage to the monster with a Puddle Pod. Has other effects as well, like if you are firing it into the mount of a Rathalos it will prevent them from doing its fireball attacks for some time. |
Thunder Pod | You deal thunder damage with this pod and effective against monsters that are weak to that element. |
Frost Pod | Deals ice damage to the monster. Useful against those who are weak to ice element. |
Dragon Pod | Dragon Pods deal dragon damage. Useful against most monsters in Wilds. |
Brightmoss | Brightmoss shines light and brightens the area wherever it lands. It has an additional effect where it draws insects like Hornetaurs to it. If you shoot a monster with a Brightmoss when a swarm of Harnetaurs is around, the insects will then zero in on the monster and attack them for some chip damage. This is an incredibly cool environmental interaction that you will get to see in Worlds. |
Para Pod | A pod that builds up a significant amount of Paralysis when you use it. Once the meter builds up you will be able to paralyze the monster for some time. |
Bleeding Pod | Bleeding Pods build up a good amount of the bleed effect on the monster. Causes additional damage to them when the status builds up. |
3) Monster Slinger Pods
Monster Pods are the ones that you acquire by breaking parts or destroying the Wounds on a Large Monster. These are specific to the monster that you are hunting and you will not be able to acquire these either from the environment or from crafting.
Each monster pod has a different damaging effect and is usually considered the more reliable option in dealing a fair bit of damage to the monster during a hunt.
Slinger Ammo | Effect |
---|---|

(Heavy) Slicing Pod | Deals a good bit of severe damage to monster parts. Can be used to cut off monster parts like tails once you do even severe damage to it. |
(Heavy) Piercing Pod | A pod that pierces the monster’s body dealing multiple hits to them. The number of hits will increase based on the size of the monster and the part that you are hitting. Bigger monsters like Jin Dahaad and Uth Duna take additional hits from this pod. |

(Heavy) Explosion Pod | Will do some blast damage to the monster. Can be useful in flinching them when the monster is readying up an attack. |
