Marvel Rivals allows its players to surrender in matches if they feel that the situation they’re in is unwinnable. Instead of dragging yourself to an inevitable loss, you can simply hit surrender and gear up for another game.
However, unsurprisingly, you can’t just surrender at your own will in a 6v6 shooter like Marvel Rivals. So, from its prerequisites to the process, here’s everything to know about using the surrender feature in Marvel Rivals.
Surrender feature in Marvel Rivals explained
First things first, the surrender feature in Marvel Rivals is only available in the ranked/Competitive Play mode and you can’t use it in Quick Play matches as you can simply leave these games without consequences.
Now, to initiate a surrender vote in a ranked game, you have to pause the gameplay by pressing Esc or the respective button on your Xbox or PlayStation controllers. The drop-down menu has a surrender option and as soon as you press it, all members of the team get a prompt to vote in favor or against it.

Your team will be able to surrender the match only if these conditions are fulfilled:
- All players in the team must vote.
- The surrender vote can only be initiated after the first round of the match is over.
- The entire team (active players) must vote in favor of the surrender vote for it to be accepted. Even if one player refuses to surrender, you’ll have to complete the game.
- Only one surrender vote can be triggered per round per person. If the vote you initiated fails, you cannot initiate another one in the next round. However, people who vote for a surrender in the second round can trigger another one in the next.
It is not a shock that surrenders are quite a controversial topic among Marvel Rivals players. While some believe in moving on from games as soon as they realize it’s a losing effort, others aim to go hard until the final second.
Usually, the best use of a surrender vote is when members of your team have disconnected as winning games becomes really hard in such a situation, considering the highly competitive 6v6 setting in Marvel Rivals.
Do note that surrendering a game doesn’t help you avoid the loss of ranked points as the game still treats it as a loss and you might not be able to secure the SVP tag as well. However, the argument used here is that you can save time and hop into another game to win back points.
That’s everything to know about the surrender feature in Marvel Rivals. Although it is handy at times, we hope that you don’t have to use it often in your matches.
