With the new cow update, Minecraft is set to receive a bit of new cosmetic content in the Overworld along with two new variants of cows. These cute mobs are getting some love this time around, and their spawn location is region-specific in the game.
Apart from the cow variants, there are a couple of other things that are being added with the cow update, so if you are looking for a sneak peek, then here is everything that you need to know.
What’s new in the Minecraft cow update?
According to the official Minecraft page the game is set to receive four new features on Java Edition’s Snapshot iteration with the cow update. These are:
1) Two new cow variants
You will be able to find two new cow variants that are found in warm and cold environments.
How to find the cold cow in Minecraft
As the name itself suggests, you will find the cold cow in regions that have a much colder environment. Here is a list of all the locations where you will find them:
- Old Growth Pine Taiga
- Old Growth Spruce Taiga
- Taiga
- Snowy Taiga
- Windswept Hills
- Windswept Gravelly Hills
- Windswept Forest
How to find the warm cow in Minecraft
The warm cow can be found spawning in the warm locations of the overworld. Here is a list of areas where you will find them:
- Savanna
- Savanna Plateau
- Windswept Savanna
- Jungle
- Sparse Jungle
- Bamboo Jungle
- Eroded Badlands
- Wooded Badlands
- Badlands
Is there a difference between warm and cold cows?
The warm and cold cow variants are just cosmetic in nature. There is essentially no difference between the two or between them and their regular temperate version. All three of the cow variants provide 1-3 XP, Raw Beef, and Leather when taken down, so there is no point target farming a particular variant.
2) Firefly Bushes
The Minecraft cow update is also introducing Firefly Bushes. You will be able to spot them at night time, however, you will now be able to catch the fireflies themselves from this greenery.
You can, fortunately, acquire the bush block itself and then use it to light up your homes. The bushes can also help you explore the Overworld at night by illuminating your path.
3) New Bush Block
A new bush block is being added to biomes that feature a lot of greenery. So you can expect to find them in forests, plains, as well as hills. These new blocks will look a lot like grass blocks but will have more leaves.
4) Ambient desert sounds
Another feature that is making its way to Minecraft with the cow update is the ambient desert sounds. The new feature is being implemented to make you feel like you are venturing into a land that is barren of all life.
It creates a haunting experience of the sandy dunes and you will be able to add the sound to your home by introducing a dead bush on two sandblocks.
