Best Metaphor ReFantazio PC settings

The newest JRPG from Atlus embodies many familiar features from both the Persona and SMT series of video games, and has been released for the PC in addition to consoles. Metaphor ReFantazio uses an in-house game engine which does scale rather nicely with low-end PC components.

A list of the best Metaphor ReFantazio PC settings can be found detailed below – targeting a 60 FPS output over a 1440p image.

Optimized Metaphor ReFantazio PC settings

Display Settings

  • Resolution: 2560×1440; set to your display’s native resolution
  • Screen Mode: Fullscreen; can be toggled to Windowed if so desired
  • Monitor: 1 by default; lets you choose the monitor you wish to render the game on – in case of multi-monitor setups
  • V-Sync: Off; always keep this disabled

Graphics Settings

  • Screen Brightness: Adjust to your liking, or leave at its default value
  • Graphics Quality: Custom; we will not be using exact presets here
  • Rendering Scale: 75%; bump up to 100% if you possess a more capable GPU
  • Ambient Occlusion: Off; currently bugged and absolutely wrecks performance when enabled
  • Texture Quality: High; lower to Normal if you possess a GPU with less than 8 GB of VRAM
  • Frame Rate Limit: Uncapped; might be worth capping to 60 frames per second on power constrained devices (such as handheld gaming PCs)

Metaphor ReFantazio is not a particularly demanding game, and should run on most PCs with relative ease.

However, the game’s optimization leaves much to be desired as the title exhibits odd performance issues in certain areas, and definitely does not run as well as it should with capable hardware.

In particular, the lack of native ultrawide support and upscalers such as DLSS/FSR/XeSS is quite unfortunate, which might force players to search for more technical, difficult to implement workarounds.

The game does come with the ability to uncap the frame rate though, which is quite appreciated.
